FROM PORT ELIZABETH

We do not recommend the R335 close to Port Elizabeth, as it passes through a large township (Motherwell) and is undergoing major reconstruction for 40km.
 
We suggest the route below, which, although it is a bit longer, is a much better road, more scenic, and takes only 15 min extra.
 
Take the N2 north. About 50km from the airport, take the N10 towards Cradock and Paterson. At Paterson, turn left onto the R342. This will take you past the Main Camp of Addo. Continue for a further 12km and turn left at the Railway crossing, onto the Rosedale Road.
 
If you are driving early, and you want to do some extra game viewing, we suggest entering into the Addo Park through the southern entrance at Colchester. Drive through the Park, and exit through the main camp. At the R342 turn left.

FROM THE GARDEN ROUTE

From the N2, take the R334 offramp at van Stadens.Go through Uitenhage (Kariega) and take the R75 north (Jansenville). After about 38km, turn right towards Kirkwood/R336. Turn right onto the R336, and travel 30km towards Addo. At the R336/R335 junction, turn right onto the R335. After 300m, turn left where you see the Rosedale sign.

FROM PATERSON (ON THE N10)

Take the R342 towards Addo. This turns into the R335 beyond the Addo Elephant Park Main Camp turnoff. Proceed for 11km on the R335 beyond the Addo Park turnoff and turn left before the railway crossing.

FROM GRAHAMSTOWN AND PORT ALFRED

At the Ncanara junction, take the N10 towards ‘Cradock’. Continue for about 30km until you reach Paterson. At Paterson, turn onto the R342, and proceed as above. Similarly, from Grahamstown/Port Alfred.

FROM OUDTSHOORN

This quiet, beautiful route is becoming more popular.  From Oudtshoorn go though de Rust, Willowmore, Steytlerville and Kirkwood. From Kirkwood, follow the R336 towards Addo. Turn right at the R336/R335 junction. After 300m, turn left where you see the Rosedale sign.
